10 Days Mexico Colonial Heritage Tour Package from Mexico Discover $1256/-

Patzcuaro – Guadalajara – Tlaquepaque – Guanajuato – San Miguel Allende

On this tour you will visit Morelia and Pazcuaro, where you can still see the Purepechas on the island in the middle of the lake. Also, you will visit Guadalajara city and the city of Guanajuato, historic patrimony of humanity by Unesco. Then you will go to San Miguel Allende, an appealing colonial village, which has several unusual buildings such as the Municipal Palace, the house of the Mayorazgo de la Canal, the Allende Institute of Art and Culture, the royal convent of La Concepcion. At last visit the colonial jewel of Queretaro and travel back to Mexico City.

Day 1: Mexico City (Thursday)
Arrival to Mexico City International Airport and transfer to the hotel. Overnight.

Day 2: Mexico City / Half day city tour
Beakfast at hotel. Guided visit including the most important buildings in the historical centre located around the “ The Zocalo”, the Cathedral, National Palace, to admire the famous murals of Diego Rivera. Continue to the modern part of the City, ending at the Anthropology Museum (closed on Mondays), one of the World’s 10 best museums. Overnight.

Day 3: Mexico City / Half day tour to the Teotihuacan pyramids and Guadalupe Shrine
Breakfast at hotel. Guided excursion to the famous Teotihuacán Pyramids, aprox 05 hours excursion starting with a visit to the Virgin of Guadalupe Shrine, place of peregrination of millions of Mexicans and people from all around the world. Continue to the north of the City, to the Teotihuacán Pyramids, where we will visit the Sun and the Moon Pyramids, the Quetzalcoatl Temple and the fortresses. Free time – for those who like to climb to the top of the Pyramids (on your own). Overnight.

Day 4: Mexico – Toluca – Morelia – Patzcuaro (must be Sunday)
Morning departure by bus from Mexico City to Toluca highway through the Desert of the Lions and La Marquesa National Park on the way to Morelia. City sightseeing and continue to Patzcuaro. Overnight at Posada Don Vasco Hotel.

Day 5: Patzcuaro – Guadalajara
Breakfast at the hotel. City tour of Patzcuaro, including  the Library, the House of the  Eleven Patios. Main Plaza and the  Basílica de la Salud.  Continue to Guadalajara. Overnight at Holiday Inn Centro Histórico hotel  or similar.  B

Day 6: Guadalajara / Tequila
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning, departure to Tequila town and  visit Hacienda San Jose del Refugio to know the process for  elaboration  of tequila. Then visit the pottery village of Tlaquepaque, the largest  handicraft center in Mexico.  Lunch included. Return to Guadalajara.  Overnight at Holiday Inn Centro Historico hotel or similar. B, L

Day 7: Guadalajara – Guanajuato
Visit “Tlaquepaque”, the largest handicraft center in Mexico. Here you will find some of the best bargains for clay figures, blown glass, paper mache, tin ware, pottery, etc. After lunch continue the journey to the City of Guanajuato. Visit of this beautiful city, considered by Unesco to be part of the “Historic Patrimony of Humanity” with its underground streets and opulent 18th century civil and religious architecture, made possible by the rich lodes of gold and silver nearby. Visit the main buildings Overnight at Mision Guanajuato hotel. B

Day 8: Guanajuato – San Miguel de Allende
Transfer to San Miguel de Allende City, on arrival city sightseeing. This appealing colonial village has several unusual buildings such as the Municipal Palace, the house of the Mayorazgo de la Canal, the Allende Institute of Art and Culture, the royal Convent of La Concepcion, etc. Overnight at BW Monteverde Express. B

Day 9: San Miguel de Allende – Queretarp – Mexico City
Breakfast at the hotel. Walking tour of the town San Miguel de Allende, taking you past by the famous church with pink, sugar-candy pointed towers of the parroquia dominating the building. These bizarre towers were designed by an untutored Indian, Zeferino Gutierrez in the late 19th century. In the main chapel is the much revered image of the Cristo de la Conquista, made by Indians in Patzcuaro from cornstalks and orchid bulbs in about the 16th century. We will continue to Queretaro, attractive city which has been declared a national monument. It is situated at the bottom of a basin surrounded by hills from where you have some excellent views. Continuation of the trip to arrive in Mexico City. Overnight. B

Day 10: Mexico City – departure
Breakfast at the hotel. At proper time, transfer from hotel to the airport to take flight back home. B
