Day 1 Bucharest
Arrive in Bucharest, capital of Romania, city testified under the name of “Bucuresti” in a document dated 20th of September 1459 and signed “Prince Vlad Dracula”.

  • arrival in Romania on Bucharest Otopeni International Airport and transfer to your hotel
  • accommodation at 3* hotel centrally located in Bucharest.

Day 2 – Bucharest to Brasov and further to Sighisoara
The day starts with a panoramic sightseeing tour of Bucharest city – a blend of old and new, classic and modern.
Pay a visit inside the Parliament’s Palace – the second largest building worldwide after the Pentagon, built during the last communist regime. Our Bucharest tour ends in the Northern part of the city with a visit to the open air Village Museum.
In the afternoon, travel to Sighisoara.

  • drive to Sighisoara with stop in Sinaia for a visit to Peles Castle
  • accommodation at 3* hotel in Sighisoara.

Day 3 – The heart of Transylvania
Sighisoara is an ancient Romanian cradle located on Tarnave Plateau, one of the best-preserved 15th century citadel and the only mediaeval inhabited citadel in Europe.
The citadel has 14 towers; each of them had been built and watched by a guild. Here lived, between 1431-1435, Vlad Dracul (Vlad the Devil), future Prince of Wallachia, thus called because the German Emperor knighted him as Knight of the Dragon. He was Vlad the Impaler’s father known as Dracula, who was most probably born here in Sighisoara, on 1431.
On the way to Sibiu, stop in Biertan to have an outside view and maybe a visit inside (if time allows) to the fortified church, one of the most important among the Saxon fortifications in Southern Transylvania. Included in the UNESCO world patrimony, it was built in 15th-16th centuries in late Gothic style with specific Renaissance elements. For 300 years Biertan was chosen as the residence of the Evangelic Diocese (1572-1867).
Sibiu – city mentioned for the first time in documents on 1192 under the name of Cibinum is one of the most romantic cities of Romania. Through the Council Tower we arrive in the Small Square which is the old commercial center of the fortified citadel. The Liars Bridge is the first Cast Iron Bridge in Romania. Its name comes from the false love declarations young people used to promise in the evenings. Return to Sighisoara.

  • sightseeing tour of Sighisoara citadel : Clock Tower, The Citadel Walls, Wooden covered staircase, The church on the hill etc.
  • drive to Biertan. If time permitting, visit inside the fortified church
  • sightseeing tour of medieval Sibiu including: Evangelical Church, Small Square, Catholic Church, Liar’s Bridge
  • accommodation as in previous day.

Day 4 – From Transylvania to Maramures
Leave Sighisoara for Targu Mures and have a panoramic tour of the city.
Drive to Cluj Napoca where Dacians had one of the most important centers, Napoca. Former capital of Transylvania, the nowadays Cluj is one of the most important economic, cultural and university centers of Romania.
End the day in Baia Mare.

  • departure to Targu Mures and have a panoramic tour of the city with its colored roof Culture Palace
  • tour of Cluj including: Church St. Michael; the Reformed Church, St. George’s statue, the Equestrian Monument of King Matei Corvin, National Theatre, Banffy Palace today hosting the Museum of Art
  • drive to Baia Mare – the capital of Maramures
  • dinner and overnight at 3* hotel.

Day 5 – Maramures and its architectural heritage
In the morning we drive to the village of Sapanta for a visit to the Merry Cemetery – unique in the world and of an amazing originality.
Your trip continues on Iza Valley – the historic Maramures, an area that still preserves masterpieces of woodcraft and unspoiled traditions. We shall visit 2 wooden churches in Barsana and Bogdan Voda villages.
Continue to Bucovina through Prislop Pass.

  • drive to Sapanta to visit the Merry Cemetery
  • visit of the wooden churches: Barsana and Bogdan Voda
  • accommodation at 3* hotel in Bucovina area (Sucevita / Gura Humorului).

Day 6 – Painted monasteries of Bucovina & natural beauties of Romania
Situated in the North of Moldavia, Bucovina is home to the treasure of Moldavian art – the painted monasteries, which has been preserved for almost 5 centuries.
Visit 2 of the 5 UNESCO protected convents: Moldovita and Voronet (also called “The Sistine Chapel of the East”) monasteries. Daylight gives the colors and especially the famous “Voronet blue” an unique transparence.
Head toward the border between Bucovina and Transylvania, passing by breathtaking Bicaz Gorges – famous gorges cut by Bicaz River in the limestone of Hasmas massif over 8 km and the Red Lake – the greatest natural dam lake in Romania.

  • visit Moldovita and Voronet monasteries
  • drive to Miercurea Ciuc stopping in Bicaz Gorges and Red Lake for pictures, souvenir shopping and refreshment
  • accommodation in Miercurea Ciuc at 3* hotel.

Day 7 – Brasov and Dracula Castle
Drive to the medieval city of Brasov. Driving through its main roads you’ll discover its beauty and picturesque, the combination between new and old, blacken stone buildings and red bricks chimneys above the colored tile roofs, over the crenels and buttresses.
In the afternoon visit Bran Castle built on 1377 by master masons of Brasov on a cliff, dominating the whole region. Arranged by Queen Maria into a most romantic castles: the old garret became the fourth floor, the old cylindrical tower with defense gallery became an apartment, Gothic stone arches framed the entrance doors, stairs and boarded floors were rebuilt.

  • sightseeing tour of Brasov including Councilors’ Square, Black Church, Old City Hall, St. Nicholas Church
  • drive to Bran to visit the Castle
  • drive to Bucharest – accommodation at 3* hotel.

Day 8 Good bye Romania !
