Scenic Poland Tour Itinerary

Day 1 SATURDAY, WARSAW You will be met at the airport and transferred to your centrally located hotel.  Meet your tour escort at your hotel at 6:oo p.m. On the way to a traditional Polish dinner at a local restaurant, we stop in Castle Square for a short walk through the Old Town. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 SUNDAY, WARSAW Half day sightseeing tour of Warsaw including the beautifully rebuilt Old Town and impressive Royal Castle, the seat of kings of Poland. After lunch at a local restaurant in the Old Town, we drive to the area of the former Warsaw Ghetto.  On the way, we’ll pass the National Opera and Town Hall.  During the tour we’ll stop at the famous Warsaw Cafe, U Bliklego, to taste a typical Polish pastry called “paczek”.  In the evening you will be treated to the music of Chopin, Poland’s most famous composer.  During the intermission of the piano recital you will be served a glass of sparkling wine.

Day 3 MONDAY, WARSAW – CZESTOCHOWA – AUSCHWITZ – ZAKOPANE A morning departure for Zakopane. En route we stop in Czestochowa to visit the Jasna Gora Monastery, religious and spiritual centre of Poland, place of many pilgrimages coming from all over the world to see the world famous Black Madonna Picture. Lunch at a local restaurant. Continue to Auschwitz to see the Martyrdom Museum at the former Nazi concentration camp. In the evening we arrive in Zakopane, beautifully situated at the foot of the Tatra Mountains.  It is the most popular resort in Poland.  Zakopane became a fasionable artists’ retreat in the beginning of the 20th century.  Overnight at your hotel.

Day 4 TUESDAY, ZAKOPANE – KRAKOW In the morning enjoy a sightseeing tour of Zakopane, whose wooden architecture blends in with the natural landscape.  The style is copied all over Poland and is known as the Zakopianski Style. You will visit Jaszczurowka Chapel and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima at Krzeptowki, which was built by the locals to thank the Lady of Fatima for saving the Pope after an attempt on his life.  Enjoy the breathtaking views of the Tatra Mountains from the top of Gubalowka Mountain and shop for souvenirs of arts and crafts in the local shops.  There will be soome free time before we go an a spectacular rafting trip on the Dunajec River in the Pieniny National Park.  After arriving in Krakow, we will check in at the hotel and have a dinner at a local restaurant in the Old Town’s Market Square.

Day 5 WEDNESDAY, KRAKOW – WIELICZKA – KRAKOW A guided sightseeing tour of the ancient capital of Poland, a royal city on the Vistula River lying at the foot of Wawel, a limestone hill on which lies a splendid royal palace and the cathedral church of St. Waclaw and bishop Stanislaus. We start with the Royal Castle and Cathedral on the Wawel Hill which were remodeled according to the new Renaissance taste in the beginning of the 16th century. It is the place where Polish kings were crowned and buried. Following a short break for cake and coffee at a well known Kracow coffee shop “Jama Michalika’, a place designed by local artists with beautiful glass-painted windows and interesting drawings, we drive to the Old Town with the Main Market Square and its magnificent houses and palaces. In the middle of the square is the Cloth Hall built before 1349, but altered in the 16th century with many shopping stalls inside. We visit St. Mary’s basilica and it’s magnificent wooden altar.  In the afternoon we drive to the Wieliczka Salt Mines and visit the unique underground world of salt lakes, chambers and chapels created by many generations of Polish miners. We can see up to 20 excavated chambers on 3 levels, full of beautiful statues sculpted from salt. In the evening we enjoy dinner and a folklore show at a local restaurant in Wieliczka before driving back to Krakow.  Overnight at the hotel.

Day 6 THURSDAY, KRAKOW – LOWICZ – WARSAW Morning departure for Torun.  On the way we will stop in Lowicz, a typical Mazovian town famous for folk art, colourful costumes and beautiful paper cut-outs.  You will be invited for a home hosted lunch by a local family, whose charming cottage is located at the foot of the former Lowicz Castle.  After lunch we depart for Warsaw and check-in at the hotel.

Day 7 FRIDAY, WARSAW Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to airport for your departure flight.
